Spring 2021 Schedule: Prospectus Defense and Portfolio Presentation

It's one of the most exciting moments of the year: GMC Defenses and ALIS Portfolio Presentations! In these events, our graduate students present their research and proposed final projects to their advisory committee.

During the GMC defense, students discuss and explain their project plans for the Summer, talk about the importance of the projects, and describe how they will complete the project. The speaker will present for 15 minutes in English and 10 minutes in the Target Language (French, Spanish, Japanese, Russian, German, or Chinese), followed by a Q&A and committee feedback.

During the ALIS portfolio presentation, students give a profesional talk in their focus language (Spanish, German, or French), sharing the work they have been developing through interviews and research. This talk is framed as a professional presentaiton to the public or a future employer. Students who plan to pursue an independent project in the summer also leverage this presentation as a defense of their proposal.

These events are open to the public and can be accessed at the links below. You can also view each student's project in their ePortfolios, available below.

Attendees: Please make sure your microphone is muted upon entry. Please use the Chat function to ask questions; questions can be asked in either language.
